Slovenia had its major residential construction peak in the 1960s and 1970s. In that time, there were massive construction projects of residential neighborhoods, especially in the capital city of Ljubljana. One of those neighborhoods is Savsko naselje in Ljubljana. Good quality residential blocks are by today’s standards insufficient, they lack the needed flexibility and apartment variations. Earthquake static stability is also a big issue.
Refurbishment of one residential block in the neighborhood plans to expand the building, opening it to the surrounding and making various different apartment plans. Visually and functionally, the building becomes an attractive place to live in.
